Vipp
Sometimes winning the lottery leads to more than just a momentary excitement. When Vipp founder Holger Nielsen won a car with his ticket to the local football stadium in 1932, that was the beginning of Vipp. He just didn't know it yet. He sold the car, bought a metal press and a few years later, when his wife Marie needed a waste bin for her hair salon, he went into his one-man workshop and made what is now known as the Vipp pedal bin.
Holger could not have imagined that the pedal-controlled waste bin he designed in 1939 would lay the foundation for an entire design universe of accessories, furniture and kitchens. Nor that his waste bin would become the catalyst for a design hotel concept.
Vipp is still an independent, family-owned Danish design company.
Whether it is the development of a waste bin, the redesign of a modular kitchen, a furniture range or the Vipp hotel, they still measure the quality of products and concepts by their long-term ability to provide an exceptional experience.
